We’re back LIVE this Sunday, talking about Marvel televisions shows. Marvel characters are showing up on ABC (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. & Agent Carter) and Netflix already (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage – and soon, Punisher, Iron Fist, and the Defenders). And we’ve got confirmation of new shows coming soon to Freeform (Cloak & Dagger) and Hulu (Runaways). DISDads Podcast panelist Jason Mitts will be there, along with guest panelists John C. Donahue, from the Disney Parks Podcast and Jimmy Horne, from The Disney Nerds Podcast.
Remember, you need to register on the site to be able to participate in the live chat – I’ll get new registrations approved as quickly as possible!
We’re back online, with the Classic Disney Film Project Podcast episodes streaming. So far, the episodes are streaming well, without the server hiccups from last weekend.
My apologies – I noticed last weekend that we were having some playback technical difficulties with the Disney Film Project Podcast episodes. A bit of troubleshooting determined that the likely problem was a mismatch between the DFPP encoded bitrate and the streaming bitrate of our server. I have re-encoded the entire DFPP catalog to match the server’s requirements, and I believe that will fix the problems we were having last weekend. I’m in the process of uploading DFPP content back to the streaming server, but it looks like that upload will not be done until after the DFPP program block starts. The streaming server may be stopped for a brief time while that upload completes and the playlist is set back up.
Sorry for the likely delay, but it should make for a better listening experience for us all!
I’m excited to announce that the space I left open last week in the new DisTalk Radio schedule posted last week will be filled by classic episodes of the Disney Film Project Podcast. We’ve got access to their full back catalog, and we’ll be running DFPP shows in two separate blocks. There will be a “Friday Night at the Movies” block and then a “Saturday Matinee” block. Each block will be pulling from a different set of classic DFPP episodes.
Now that the schedule is all filled out, at least for the time being, watch for various special events and contests to start popping up. In the future, we may hold “guess the theme” contests, inviting listeners to guess the thematic grouping of a particular set of shows running in one of the DFPP blocks – or really any of our programming blocks.
This is just the beginning for DisTalk Radio, and we’re excited about the direction we’re headed. We hope you are too!
Check out the new DisTalk Radio Schedule! With the addition of DisTalk Radio’s Weekly Pint Podcast, we’ve put together a new schedule that will give you broad blocks within which you can find some of your favorite Disney-fan streaming talk content. (And we’ve got another big announcement that should be coming soon, which will fill those big blank spots that we’ve left open on Friday and Saturday).
As you can see, we’ll be running a set of shows from the DISDads Podcast back catalog in the overnight hours, from 1:30 a.m. until 9 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
From 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday through Friday, you can listen in to some of our favorite episodes of The DAD (Destinations And Diversions) Show.
And we’ll be running a “Prime Time” block of DISDads Podcasts from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday.
We’ll be changing things up a bit more in the evenings, in that 8:00 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. time slot.
- Sunday, you’ll get the most recently released episode of The DISDads Podcast.
- Monday will feature a continuation of the back-catalog replays. Because it’s a longer block of time on Monday, we can use it to run some special collections. Right now, we’ve got all of the DISDads Podcast Beercasts running in the Monday rotation.
- Tuesday and Thursday will feature DisTalk Radio’s Weekly Pint Podcast, with Dave Juart and John Peters.
- And on Wednesday, we’ll run the most recent episode of the DAD Show.
As the Weekly Pint Podcast’s catalog of episodes grows, look for that show to pick up an extended block, probably on Thursdays.
We’re excited for more announcements about our weekend programming that we hope to have for you soon. And we’re always open to new content joining the party!
